Terms of service

Effective August 3, 2026

The short version: Kept helps you keep your car's maintenance history. It is a record keeper, not a mechanic. Your owner's manual and a qualified professional always come first. Be reasonable with the service and we will be reasonable with you.

What Kept is

Kept is an app for logging vehicle maintenance, tracking service intervals, and keeping photos and records of the work you do. It is made by J5ive Creative, Inc. By using Kept you agree to these terms.

Maintenance information, honestly stated

Kept shows service intervals to help you plan. All intervals that are provided by default are estimate and suggestions. This information is provided for reference only. It is not mechanical, safety, or warranty advice. Your vehicle's owner's manual, your manufacturer, and qualified technicians are the authorities on what your specific vehicle needs and when. Kept is not responsible for damage, cost, or loss arising from maintenance decisions, missed service, or reliance on any interval, reminder, or record in the app.

Reminders depend on your device delivering notifications and on the mileage you enter being current. Do not rely on Kept as your only safeguard for safety-critical maintenance.

Your account

You can use Kept without an account. If you create one, keep your sign-in method secure; what happens under your account is your responsibility. You must be old enough to hold the Apple, Google, or email account you sign in with. We may suspend or close accounts that abuse the service, attempt to access other people's data, or use Kept for anything unlawful. You can delete your account and its data at any time, as described in the privacy policy.

Your data is yours

The records, photos, and history you put into Kept belong to you. If you sync them, you give us permission to store and transmit that data solely to provide the service, nothing more. The Kept name, wordmark, design, and app are ours; using the app does not give you rights to them.

Paid features

Kept's core features are free. When Kept Pro launches, it will be billed through your Apple account per the App Store's terms, and subscriptions will be manageable and cancellable through Apple. Prices and what is included in each tier may change; existing limits are far more likely to loosen than tighten.

The service, as-is

We work to keep Kept reliable and your data safe, and we back up what you sync. Even so, Kept is provided as-is, without warranties of any kind, and we cannot promise it will always be available, uninterrupted, or free of errors. To the fullest extent the law allows, our total liability for any claim related to Kept is limited to what you paid us in the twelve months before the claim, and we are not liable for indirect or consequential damages. Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations, so parts of this may not apply to you.

Changes to these terms

If these terms change in a way that matters, we will say so in the app before the change takes effect, and this page's effective date will be updated. Continuing to use Kept after that means the new terms apply.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, without regard to conflict of law rules.
